We want to know if the revised Standards meet your needs and will be a useful tool for your organisation.  For more information about this resource please visit below website:

 Volunteering in an Emergency

During an emergency, so many people want to know how they can help.  Here in Gippsland the most valuable thing you can do is provide donations to the Gippsland Emergency Relief Fund http://relieffund.org.au.  Established in 1978, the GERF is focussed on people’s immediate needs during emergency; for food, clothing, utensils, furniture, bedding and children’s educational costs. The Fund is a registered charity so donations are tax deductible.

Donations of clothing and household items are discouraged unless specifically requested by an emergency relief or recovery organisation. Many donated items end up surplus to need. So many donations may be received that even op shops can’t accept them. A great deal has to be sent to landfill at the expense of the relief and recovery organisations.

For information about volunteering to help in emergencies, including registration forms and contact details for organisations you can join, visit I Can Do That, the Volunteer Victoria website. http://www.volunteer.vic.gov.au/information-for-volunteers/volunteering-in-an-emergency
